The draw for the semi-finals of the U21s has been announced. Robert will be racing at Daugavpils on the 17th June. From the Tigers press release it is also confirmed that Robert will be representing Australia in the World U21s Team Championship “…The down side to Robert’s quailification is that he will miss out on two vital fixtures, against Berwick at Shielfield Park and Somerset at home on the 17th. Another honour for Robert is that he is called up for the Australian Under 21 side for the World Team Cup in Poland, again though he will miss a vital home fixture - against Kings Lynn in the semi final of the Premier Trophy. The only positive is that it is likely that he will have dropped to reserve for the meeting and therefore a guest would be available.” (from glasgowspeedway).

April 1st, 2007

Glasgow Tigers have completed a deal to sign Robert on a full transfer from Edinburgh Monarchs. After a successful 2006 with the Tigers, Glasgow wanted Robert back in their team, and once that had been secured, they made a move to buy him outright. The first offer was refused by Edinburgh, but another offer was put in, and this time Glasgow had got their man!

“I am really happy to be back at Glasgow this season. After spending 2006 with the club, I really wanted to be back racing for Glasgow this year, and I am very pleased that we managed to complete a deal. The Glasgow promotion has shown faith in me by buying my contract from Edinburgh, and I am happy that the deal has gone through, it makes me feel wanted.”

“I have put in a lot of effort at the start of this year in terms of preparation. Since the beginning of January, I have been training a lot, endless hours in the gym, pool, moto x, etc. I teamed up with Ryan Sullivan this year back home for training, which was very good for me. I learnt many things from him, training wise, and also technically, I think it will help a lot. I have also invested a lot of money in machinery this year. I have got a new bike along with the two from last year, and an extra engine, so hopefully it all pays off! I am really looking forward to the start of the season, can’t wait to get out there now!”
